What is General Checked Baggage Rules for Aer Lingus passengers

Depending on the fare type, there may be additional baggage fees for any checked bags or over weight.

The weight of your checked luggage shouldn't be more than 32 kg. Sports equipment can be transported as free checked baggage or, if necessary, as part of an additional bought allowance.

Up to three bags may be reserved online up to two hours before departure for routes run by Aer Lingus. Online booking is available for one bag for itineraries that include flights on partner airlines.

When travelling with a companion under the same booking and checking in together, you may pool or share your baggage allowance.

Aer Lingus Cabin Baggage

  • Aer Lingus allows one piece of cabin baggage per passenger on regional flights, with a 7kg weight limit and a 48 x 33 x 20 cubic cm maximum size.
  • Aer Lingus Baggage Allowance allows one piece of cabin luggage on all other flights, with a weight limit of 10kg and a maximum cubic volume of 55 x 40 x 24 cm.
  • A laptop with maximum dimensions of 25 x 33 x 20 cubic cm may also be brought into the cabin as a smaller piece of hand luggage.

  • You are supposed to pay a baggage fee for every checked baggage you are carrying.
  • As per Aer Lingus carry-on baggage policy, a bag should be within 20 kg limit, you will need to pay an additional excess cost.
  • The passenger has a choice between three different types of baggage: 20kg, 25kg, and 30kg.
  • A passenger is allowed to check a maximum of three bags and add up to two more for an extra fee.
  • For reservations made using the Smart or Flex pricing options, one free checked bag up to 23 kg is allowed.
  • Any luggage, whether free or paid, cannot weigh more than 32kg.
